Waterproofing Supervisor

The waterproofing supervisor manages the full cycle of waterproofing operations onsite, from substrate preparation and application to inspection and final approval. With advanced knowledge of membrane waterproofing, combo roofing, and cementitious systems, the supervisor ensures that all critical areas such as substructures, basements, foundations, podium slabs, roofs, and pools are protected to the highest standards. Responsible for coordinating teams, solving technical issues, and ensuring that all waterproofing works are delivered safely, efficiently, and without defects, this leadership role requires taking full ownership of waterproofing quality, safety, and team performance across high-value projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily waterproofing works and workforce, ensuring compliance with approved methods and manufacturer specifications
• Ensure substrate preparation is completed and approved before waterproofing application
• Oversee application of bituminous and liquid-applied membranes, combo roofing systems, cementitious waterproofing (brush, spray, and trowel applied) and protective screeds, thermal insulation, primers, and sealants
• Coordinate daily activities with supporting subcontractors and suppliers
• Report subcontractor performance issues to Project Lead and verify their works meet waterproofing compatibility standards
• Ensure proper detailing around penetrations, upstands, columns, expansion joints, drains, and terminations
• Identify site issues such as cracks, honeycombing, moisture traps, or improper slopes and provide corrective solutions
• Conduct inspections before, during, and after waterproofing activities
• Monitor thickness, curing, adhesion, overlaps, joints, terminations, drainage slopes, and detailing
• Arrange and participate in water ponding flood tests, adhesion tests and leak detection
• Prepare daily progress reports and checklists and submit QA/QC documentation
• Coordinate with site engineers, QA/QC team, subcontractors, and material suppliers Liaise with consultants for inspections and approvals
• Ensure materials are verified, stored correctly, and used according to manufacturer guidelines Ensure the team follows safety protocols related to hot works, chemical handling, heights, and confined space Conduct toolbox talks related to waterproofing risks and PPE requirements

Skills and Experience Required

• 3–5+ years supervising waterproofing teams on roofs, podiums, pools, basements in UAE/GCC projects.
• Advanced knowledge of torch-on bituminous, liquid-applied, PU foam, polyurea, cementitious systems, and PVC/HDPE membranes
• Proven ability to lead teams of 6–10 technicians, coordinate subcontractors, and manage QA/QC inspections
• Expertise in water testing (flood/ponding), adhesion tests, and waterproofing detailing at penetrations/joints
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, method statements, and HSE protocols for hot works/chemicals
• Organized, responsible, detail-oriented with excellent communication skills (English + Hindi/Urdu preferred)
• Preferred expertise in combo roofing systems, including slope buildup, insulation, protective layers, upstand details, drain terminations, and screed
• Preferred experience in waterproofing for substructure works, including raft foundations, retaining walls, basements, and tie-beam areas, and on-grade waterproofing, including ground slabs, planter boxes, and podium decks
• Preferred understanding of pool waterproofing, including crack treatment, coving, expansion joints, and tile bedding compatibility

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent minimum required
• Technical Diploma or Trade Certification in Construction/Waterproofing preferred
• Additional certifications such as safety training and manufacturer-specific training and certifications highly valued
