Expert Applicator for Torch-On & Liquid Membranes

This role seeks an expert applicator for torch-on & Liquid Membranes applies torch-on bituminous (SBS/APP), liquid-applied polyurethane/acrylic, and self-adhesive sheet membranes to roofs, podiums, basements, and wet areas. The role focuses on substrate preparation, torching/rolling application, overlap quality, and protection layer installation to manufacturer specifications

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare work surfaces by cleaning, drying, priming, and leveling as required
• Apply waterproofing systems such as: Torch-on membranes (SBS/APP), liquid-applied membranes (polyurethane, acrylic, cementitious), self-adhesive sheet membranes, spray-applied membranes
• Install protection layers, drainage boards, geotextiles, and insulation as needed
• Use tools and equipment such as torches, rollers, squeegees, spray equipment, and heat welders
• Conduct visual checks to ensure membrane continuity, adhesion, and correct thickness
• Repair or correct defects such as blisters, air pockets, or weak bonding
• Work under team leader/supervisor direction to maintain project schedule and quality standards
• Follow safety regulations and wear required PPE at all times
• Maintain tools, equipment, and cleanliness of the working area
• Work with the site supervisor to ensure tasks are completed on schedule
• Documentation work and reporting any issues or site hazards

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience with torch-on bitumen (SBS/APP), liquid polyurethane/acrylic, and self-adhesive membranes specifically
• Proficient in applying sheet, liquid, torch-on, self-adhesive, and spray-applied membrane systems
• Understanding of different waterproofing materials and proper usage
• Ability to detect defects and ensure uniform thickness, proper adhesion, and watertight finishes
• Skilled in using torches, rollers, brushes, heat guns, and relevant equipment safely

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Grade 10–12 acceptable)
• Vocational training in masonry, plastering, or construction finishing preferred
• Manufacturer spray training certificates highly valued
