• Widespread tile delamination and visible efflorescence on pool surfaces
• Active water seepage at construction joints and plumbing penetrations
• Presence of shrinkage cracks in the concrete substrate
• Height and accessibility constraints due to the rooftop location
1. Removal & Surface Preparation
• Stripped all existing tiles, mortar bedding, and previously applied waterproofing layers
• Mechanically prepared the concrete surface by grinding and scarifying to expose a clean substrate
• Mapped and marked all visible cracks and suspected leakage zones
2. Crack & Joint Injection
• Used Hydraulic Resin & Crystalline Injection to seal shrinkage cracks and cold joints
• Resin grout was injected under low pressure, forming an internal waterproof barrier
• Special attention was given to joints around inlets, drains, and pipe penetrations
3. Surface Protection – Cementitious Waterproofing
• Applied a flexible, two-component cementitious waterproofing slurry across all pool surfaces
• Rounded fillets were added at floor-wall intersections for improved stress management
• This layer served both as a waterproofing barrier and a leveling layer
4. Final Coating – Spray-Applied Polyurea
• Applied a 2mm-thick, seamless polyurea protective coating over the cementitious layer
• The coating offered excellent chemical resistance, crack-bridging capacity, and UV stability
• Overflow channels and edge detailing were treated as part of a continuous membrane system
5. Testing & Delivery
• A 72-hour hydrostatic test was conducted, confirming no leakage
• Final tiling and finishing were completed using compatible adhesives over the polyurea membrane
Systems Applied:
Hydraulic Resin & Crystalline Injections, Cementitious Waterproofing Solutions and Spray-Applied Polyurea Protective Coatings
The project was completed on schedule, and the waterproofing system performed successfully under full water load. No leakage was observed post-installation, and the pool was handed over ready for long-term use with greatly improved performance and durability.
